Voluntary Benefits from Union Services

Designed to offer additional protection
for Union Members and their Families

Our goal is to provide Union Members with the highest quality services and benefits at the lowest possible price. This is why we remain Independent Insurance Brokers and not captive to any Insurance Company.

We bring value to Local Unions by shopping each year for new and better benefits all with the intention of helping Union Members receive the "best value" for their money. Further, because of our large buying power, we are often able to negotiate very attractive rates and services for our Union Member Clients.

Many of our Voluntary Benefits are portable and may be retained by the Employee if they should leave their current employment. Some benefit may be retained only as long as they are Union Members.

Read more of our Benefits and Services below, then contact us today to learn more of our programs for Local Unions to offer their Members.

Payment Methods to Collect Premiums

Our Premiums for Benefits can be paid using any of the following methods:

  1. Payroll deductions - if available
  2. The One-for-All Payroll System. If you are already using at least one Payroll Slot for Union Benefits, or even for Union Dues, we can aggregated multiple benefits into that one slot to deduct a new total amount. These funds are then sent from the Payroll Department to a Licensed, Total Plan Administrator (TPA) who will break out and pay the various Benefit Companies;
  3. Drafted individually from a Bank or Credit Union
  4. New! Direct Deposits - Many business now want their employees to direct deposit their pay check. When this is available, we can implement a partial-direct deposit to pay premiums for Union Benefits. This looks just like a payroll deduction and can be done without contract negotiations. Disability Insurance for Union Members

We understand Union disability insurance needs, in fact, disability is what brought us into the Union Labor Markets! We build disability plans that complement your current negotiated disability benefits from your Employer.

For example, a Local Union may have $300 a week of Sickness and Accident benefits (negotiated disability benefits) for 26 weeks. However, their average pay is $800 per week. If our Union Member becomes disabled from a hunting accident or a heart attack, his S&A benefits would then pay him a take-home amount of $220/week (less taxes and less other deductions).

With our disability plans, a Union Members could buy another $300 of tax-free income for pennies a week! This would bring there weekly disability income up to $520, which is much closer to their normal "take-home" pay.

In the event our Union Member is disabled longer than the 26 weeks of negotiated benefits, we also offer plans that pay benefits for 2,3 or 5 years.

Life Insurance

We offer a complete line of Life Insurance benefits including Term, Universal and Whole Life insurance.

Term life Insurance provides maximum protection for very low premiums and provides for the period when you have the most financial obligations. This would be when you have a mortgage and a family who depend on your income. Term Life Insurance helps to pay of your debts, get your Children through school and helps your family regain their financial footing after loosing your income.

APPLY ONLINE for "low-cost" Term Life Insurance.

Permanent Life Insurance, such as Universal and Whole Life insurance, helps to pay your final expenses such as burial, outstanding debts, and to help your Spouse and Family recover from your untimely loss. Further, permanent policies build cash value that you might be able to supplement your retirement income.

Which Life Insurance is right for you?
Prudent financial planning suggests that you need both. When you are young and beginning a family, you should consider term policies to help pay for your children's education, pay off your mortgage, and help your spouse and children survive without your income. As you get older your children become self sufficient and your mortgage and other debts usually are paid down to lower amounts, this is when your Permanent life insurance will help your remaining family with your final bills and with their transition without you. Check with your financial advisor for what's best for you.

US Savings Bonds

Union Services of America has develop an exclusive program that allows Local Union Members an easy and convenient way to buy U.S. Savings bonds!

We established a convenient way for Union Members to deduction or bank draft a small amount each pay-period, and these amounts are accumulated with a licensed, third-party Administrator. When there is enough funds to purchase a US Savings Bond, either a EE or II Bond, then one is immediately purchased and mailed directly to the Union Members Home.

Also, we offer an optional "Bond Continuation" Program in which small additional premiums allow the Union Member to buy an insurance policy that, in the unforeseen death of the Union Member, the Bond Continuation program continues to buy the same number of Bonds that the Member was buying each month, and will buy these bonds for the next ten years. These bonds are also sent the the Union Members family as a "legacy" plan from the Union Member.

Contact us today to discuss the US Savings Bonds program along with the Bond Continuation Program.
